The disclaimer — read this first

OSED exists to lower one barrier: the cost of producing a well-formed first draft of an environmental-litigation instrument. Where a community or a small public-interest organization has a real concern but no drafting capacity, OSED turns proven instruments into something they can prepare and bring to a lawyer. That is the whole promise — and its limit.

The premise the whole project rests on:

OSED drafts; a licensed attorney decides.

OSED produces scaffolding, not filings. Everything it generates is a marked DRAFT that a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction must review before it is sent, served, or filed. Using OSED creates no attorney-client relationship, and nothing it produces is legal advice. The software does not decide whether you have a case, whether to sue, or whether a claim is sound — it surfaces those questions, with the relevant law attached, and stops.
